If I click 'geographic data' I get 'No places found' in the list area but if I select the 'show inactive places' checkbox I get 'ENG' in the list and can drill down through 'Staffordshire' to a list of places. Once the file has been processed I end up back at the googlemaps module admin screen with just the three links across the top. Chose 'upload geographic data' and selected the place file for the county where most of my events occured (places-England-Staffordshire.csv) and clicked 'continue adding'.Went to admin->googlemaps->geographic data.Emptied the relevant table in phpmyadmin to ensure I was starting with a clean sheet.I find the wiki page very confusing (perhaps it just needs better formatting?) and the instructions in the add-on place file seem to be for a previous version. This will also allow auto-complete to be a significant asset to new data entry within your tree. He did mention the one thing we all harp on - consistency. If you have more specific issues after reading or rereading that information and studying the GM module configurations (and there are many), then please ask here again.ĮDIT: busted by Nigel. If not, you can either modify your PLAC tag to match the GM data or add a new placelocation to match your PLAC tag.Īgain, the module WIKI article describes the process pretty thoroughly. If a perfect match, or enhanced with prefix and suffix removals, then the map location will be displayed.
WEBTREES PLACES CODE
The module code then allows for matching to your PLAC tags within the family tree. Google Maps pulls its location data from a placelocations table in the database which comes empty and you can populate with placelocations that can be downloaded from the ADD-ONS section of the website. There is really NO connection between your PLAC structure and Google Maps™ other than that provided by code within the module itself. It would be both lengthy and duplicative for me to regurgitate the contents here. Have you read the rather extended explanation of the Google module in our WIKI?
